As a family winery, we strive every day to create wines we will be proud to pass down to future generations—a liquid legacy to remember and celebrate our family. We launched our Legacy Club to share this history with friends and supporters who cherish our wines as much as we do.
While the history of most wine producers is established in the years after they begin, Delgadillo Cellars started with a 30-year history in the Napa Valley under its belt. 30 years working the vineyards of Napa Valley. 21 years in winemaking.
Winemaker Ignacio Delgadillo, Sr., started in the wine industry in 1975 at Freemark Abbey, eventually becoming cellar master during the days when Freemark produced one of the top Cabernet Sauvignon releases in the Napa Valley (and that is saying something). Along the way, he has consulted as a private vineyard contractor and established a successful custom wood packaging business.
After all those years in the vineyards and in the winery, Ignacio and his son, Ignacio Delgadillo Jr., found the opportunity to create their own label in 2001, and Delgadillo Cellars was born. With Ignacio senior’s extensive knowledge of the vineyards of Napa Valley, he and his family selected a small vineyard along Mill Creek in the northwest part of the valley. The Cabernet vines in Mill Creek Vineyard were planted between 1971 and 1976. Spur pruned, ladder trained and completely dry-farmed, the fruit from these vines is concentrated, complex and elegant. Delgadillo Cellars farms the site, allowing them to hand tend the fruit from bud break to bottling.
Each Delgadillo Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon release spends several years in French oak and has been bottle aged for three years in ideal cellar conditions before release. Delgadillo Cellars wines are truly a family affair, steeped in the traditions of Napa Valley winegrowing.

This wine unfolds in a symphony of fruit, spice, savory herbs and dark chocolate. The nose offers ripe blackcurrant and plum compote aromas, with a subtle sandstone minerality behind. The smoothly integrated palate bursts with juicy boysenberry and blackberry, enriched by Bourbon vanilla, dark mocha and warm clove spice. Wild thyme and red fruits lift the mid-palate.

Rooted in history and shaped by place, our vineyards reflect the character, heritage, and meticulous care behind every bottle we produce. From volcanic basins cooled by coastal fog to dry-farmed hillside sites nurtured over decades, each vineyard tells a unique story of terroir, craftsmanship, and respect for the land. The following vineyards—Coombsville Vineyard and Mill Creek Vineyard—represent the foundation of our winemaking philosophy and the exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon that defines Delgadillo Cellars.
Sourced from two distinguished sites in Napa Valley, our Cabernet Sauvignon expresses both a deep sense of place and a long-standing commitment to thoughtful vineyard stewardship. Coombsville Vineyard lies within an ancient volcanic basin in the southern reaches of Napa Valley, an area known for its temperate climate and extended growing season. Morning fog moderates ripening, while warm afternoon sunshine allows grapes to develop concentrated flavors, complex aromatics, and refined tannins. The rocky soils and creek-side setting naturally limit vigor, producing small berries of remarkable intensity and balance—qualities that have helped establish Coombsville as one of Napa Valley’s most distinctive winegrowing regions.
Complementing this is Mill Creek Vineyard, a historic, dry-farmed site planted in the early 1970s on the west side of the Napa River between St. Helena and Calistoga. With widely spaced vines, traditional spur pruning, and careful hand-tending, the vineyard encourages deep root systems and naturally moderated yields. Cabernet Sauvignon vines, sourced from respected heritage selections, are farmed without trellising and with minimal intervention, allowing each vintage to express its character fully. Together, these vineyards form the foundation of Delgadillo Cellars, producing wines that unite elegance, structure, and a lasting sense of place.
